Neighbourhood Santos Reopens: A New Era for Lisbon’s Specialty Coffee Scene
Neighbourhood Santos, Lisbon’s pioneering Aussie-owned cafe, featuring specialty coffee, brunch plates, smash burgers, and local craft beer, is thrilled to reopen its doors.
This local, brunch serving and specialty coffee-focused neighbourhood hub has undergone a thoughtful transformation to enhance its iconic vibe while making room to serve even more neighbours.
Staying True to Our Roots
The goal of the redesign was clear: preserve the essence that regulars love while reimagining the space to accommodate a growing community.
With improved storage, an updated layout, and new partnerships with local creators, Neighbourhood Santos is now better equipped to provide a moment of reset, from morning specialty coffee to late-night craft brews.
Designed by Venetian Architect Mattia Caccin
The transformation was led by Mattia Caccin, a Venetian-born architect and founder of AWMC. Known for his artistic sensibility and modern approach, Mattia combined functionality and style to breathe new life into Neighbourhood Santos.
"We wanted to honour the heart of Neighbourhood Santos while improving its functionality for everyday use," says Mattia. "This project was about creating a space that feels like even more like home ."
A Celebration of Local Creativity
Neighbourhood Santos’ transformation was a collaborative effort, bringing together the best of Lisbon’s creative community:
- ApeWood Carpentry: Custom-built furniture and fixtures that blend craftsmanship with character from
- Vibeyard Wines: Organic Portuguese wines sourced from just around the corner.
- Local Artist: Pedro Leote, known as @wide.boy, created unexpected, visceral pieces.
- Local Framer: @SamEinstein, ensuring each piece is beautifully displayed.
- Dois Corvos: A curated selection of local craft beers on tap, celebrating Lisbon’s craft beer scene.
At Neighbourhood Santos, we’ve always believed in keeping it local. From the art on the walls to the beers on tap, everything reflects the incredible community we’re lucky enough to be part of.
A Space for More
As you'll see when you visit, every detail has been considered—from the layout of the new counter space to the additional storage for smoother operations. These improvements mean faster service, more room for guests, and the same incredible atmosphere that makes Neighbourhood Santos a neighbourhood favourite.
